Dell XPS 14 DA14260

Measurements come from NotebookCheck's review unit with the Core Ultra X7 358H, Arc B390, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and the 2880x1800 OLED touchscreen.

The Intel Core Ultra X7 358H has 16 cores (4 performance and 12 efficiency), boosting to 4.8 GHz. That is enough for 4K editing, code builds and heavy multitasking. Its NPU is rated at 50 TOPS for on-device AI features.

NotebookCheck measured about 30W of sustained CPU power in this chassis. The chassis limit, not the chip rating, is what decides long render times. Across the 8 systems NotebookCheck has tested with the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, it averages 1,015 points in Cinebench 2024 multi-core (range 859 to 1,125) and 123 single-core. Where this laptop lands in that range depends on how much power it lets the chip draw. Under a sustained all-core load the processor spikes briefly before settling back within about 30 seconds, so long multi-threaded jobs cannot hold the chip's full turbo speed.

Graphics come from the integrated Intel Arc B390. It handles video playback, photo edits and lighter or older games at modest settings.

The integrated Arc B390 is strong enough to run demanding current games at modest 1080p settings, a big step up from earlier XPS models without a dedicated GPU.

Gaming (average across systems). These are NotebookCheck's average frame rates for the Intel Arc B390 12 Xe3 Panther Lake iGPU across every system it has tested with this GPU, not this laptop alone. Power limits differ between laptops, so this one can land above or below the average.

Memory: fixed. 32GB of LPDDR5X-9600 is soldered to the board, so buy the amount you will need for the life of the laptop; configurations go up to 64GB.

Storage: replaceable. One M.2 slot, already in use (M.2 2230 or M.2 2280), M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4.

RAM and Wi-Fi are soldered, and reaching the SSD now means removing the keyboard deck from the base rather than just the bottom cover, which makes servicing a bit harder.

The 14-inch OLED panel runs at 2880x1800 (243 pixels per inch) and 120Hz, with touch. It is rated at 400 nits. NotebookCheck measured 396 nits with the near-infinite contrast OLED is known for. Color coverage is 100% sRGB and 100% P3, good enough for photo and video work. Response time is 1 ms, so motion stays sharp. The panel flickers at 240 Hz (PWM) at lower brightness, which matters if you are sensitive to it.

The OLED panel ships well calibrated out of the box, but its glossy surface is too reflective and dim for comfortable use in direct sunlight.

NotebookCheck measured 45.7 dB(A) under load and 23.3 dB(A) at idle. You will hear it, but it is not intrusive. The hottest surface reached 35.8 °C.

The battery is 70Wh, larger than 57% of the thin and light laptops we list. NotebookCheck got 16 hours 45 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing. Fast charging: ExpressCharge Boost with the 100W adapter: Dell quotes 0 to 35% in 20 minutes and 0 to 80% in one hour.

Windows does not enable variable refresh rate by default, so the screen stays at a fixed 120Hz unless the user turns VRR on, which can stretch battery life further.

Materials: Aluminum top and bottom covers (75% recycled aluminum per NotebookCheck), plastic palm rest, Gorilla Glass 3 on the OLED touchscreen. At 1.36 kg it is lighter than 52% of the thin and light laptops we list. It measures 309.52x209.71x14.62 mm. The hinge is firm and even, but the screen only tilts back to about 140 degrees.

The redesign drops the tapered edges for a flatter, boxier body that feels stiffer than before, though it is still a few hundred grams heavier than rivals such as the HP EliteBook X G1i 14 and Asus ExpertBook Ultra.

The zero-lattice keyboard now has a normal row of physical function keys instead of touch-sensitive ones, but its 0.8 mm travel and soft feedback feel shallow and the arrow keys are cramped.

The large haptic glass clickpad now has subtle etched borders so its edges are easy to find, although the haptic click could be stronger. Sign-in: IR camera for Windows Hello face login; no fingerprint reader option.

It has 3x Thunderbolt 4, which runs docks, fast external drives and displays over one cable. It charges over USB-C.

Full list: 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, left side, 1x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, right side, 1x 3.5mm headset jack. Wireless: Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.

The microSD card reader from earlier XPS models is gone, leaving only USB-C ports and a headset jack.

Webcam: 8MP camera (1440p30 video) with IR, no privacy shutter. Speakers: Quad speakers, 2x 3W woofers plus 2x 2W tweeters (10W total), Waves MaxxAudio.

The four speakers sound unusually loud and balanced for a 14-inch laptop, but the high-resolution webcam still lacks a physical privacy shutter.

The Dell XPS 14 DA14260 name covers several builds. Processors: Intel Core Ultra 5 325, Intel Core Ultra 7 355, Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, Intel Core Ultra X9 388H and Intel Core Ultra X9 388H vPro. Graphics: Intel Graphics and Intel Arc B390. Memory: 16GB LPDDR5X-7467 (Core Ultra 5 and 7), or 32GB or 64GB LPDDR5X-9600 (Core Ultra X7 and X9); on board, not upgradeable. Screens: 14-inch 1920x1200 IPS, non-touch, anti-glare, 500 nits, 100% sRGB, 1 to 120Hz; 14-inch 2880x1800 OLED touchscreen, 400 nits typical and 500 nits peak, 100% DCI-P3, 20 to 120Hz VRR. The DA14260 with Intel Core Ultra series 3 (Panther Lake) is the current XPS 14 and is still listed on Dell's US store; it replaced the 14.5-inch Dell 14 Premium DA14250.
