This HP Laptop 15-fd configuration steps up to a Core Ultra 5 125U with 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD and the same 15.6-inch FHD chassis as the DDR4 configuration sold under the identical model number.
Same 15-fd name, different board. The Core Ultra chip means this configuration runs DDR5 rather than DDR4, and a RAM stick bought for the 13th Gen version of this same model number will not work here. Confirm your CPU generation before ordering a memory upgrade.
Performance
The Core Ultra 5 125U is a 12-core Meteor Lake part with an on-die NPU, a step up in efficiency and light multitasking over the 13th Gen i5 sold under the same model name. HP has not published a sustained power figure for this chassis.
Upgradability
RAM: yes, but the modules are DDR5, not DDR4. Two SO-DIMM slots, one populated with a single 16GB stick, one free. Storage: the single M.2 2280 slot, now PCIe 4.0 x4, is already occupied by the 512GB drive.
Battery life
Same 41Wh battery as the DDR4 configuration. The Core Ultra platform's efficiency gains may help light-load runtime somewhat, though HP has not published directly comparable figures for both boards.

Identical 15.6-inch 1080p IPS panel to the DDR4 configuration. Fine for office and browsing use.
