Who each one is for
Take the AOOSTAR AG02 for handhelds and mini PCs with a native OCuLink port. Nothing else gives this much bandwidth for the money. It also earns its place with RTX 4090-class cards, where the 800W supply and open frame remove both the power and thermal limits. It is not the one for anyone who needs the dock to charge the host. OCuLink carries no power at all. Take the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 850 T5 for buyers with the largest current triple-wide flagship GPUs needing genuine physical and electrical compatibility. It is equally the pick for anyone wanting the measured 92% desktop-performance figure specifically achievable only over Thunderbolt 5. Avoid it for buyers on Thunderbolt 3 or 4 laptops without Thunderbolt 5 support, won't reach the full measured performance advantage without a Thunderbolt 5-equipped host device. Our rating of the AOOSTAR AG02 (7/10): the fastest eGPU link you can buy for under $200, with a power button that does not work. Buy it for the bandwidth, plan around the defect. Our rating of the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 850 T5 (9/10): the Thunderbolt 5 performance leader, 92% of desktop GPU performance, triple-wide support up to 345mm, and single-cable 100W charging.
