Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box 850 T5

Lists support for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-, 40-, and 30-series cards and AMD Radeon RX 9000-, 7000-, and 6000-series cards, a genuinely broad, current compatibility range spanning multiple GPU generations from both major manufacturers. Accepts triple-wide cards up to 345 x 155 x 70mm, with three 8-pin connectors or one 16-pin 12VHPWR connector, real physical and electrical flexibility for connecting virtually any current desktop GPU's specific power connector configuration.

Integrated 850W PSU and up to 100W laptop charging through the same Thunderbolt 5 connection, meaning a single cable both powers the connected laptop and delivers GPU acceleration simultaneously.

In testing, this enclosure hit 92% of desktop GPU performance over Thunderbolt 5, compared to 78-82% over Thunderbolt 4 in the same benchmark, a real, substantial performance gap specifically from the doubled 80Gbps bandwidth over Thunderbolt 5 removing the PCIe 3.0 x4 bottleneck that constrains Thunderbolt 4 enclosures.

Versus Sonnet's own 750ex, that stays on the older Thunderbolt 3 standard and accepts only double-width cards, a real step down in both connectivity speed and physical GPU compatibility versus this 850 T5. Versus the Razer Core X V2, both offer Thunderbolt 5 and comparable PSU wattage; the specific choice comes down to Sonnet's Mac-focused engineering heritage versus Razer's broader brand ecosystem.
