Razer Core X vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck: Comparison
Razer Core X vs Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck host power delivery compared
Expect a near tie. The closest thing to a difference is host power delivery, Razer Core X 100 W against Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck Up to 60W.
Who each one is for
The Razer Core X suits shoppers hunting the enclosure on the used/discounted market, though it is the wrong buy for anyone wanting the fastest Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth available today and Apple Silicon Mac owners needing official eGPU support. The same goes for buyers who want Core X Chroma capacity without paying for RGB lighting. Take the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck for travelers and light gaming/creative workloads wanting a complete, compact eGPU solution with no assembly. It is the wrong buy for buyers wanting maximum performance from a high-end desktop GPU, a full-size enclosure like the Core X V2 supports more powerful cards. Our rating of the Razer Core X (7.5/10): A no-frills, high-value Thunderbolt 3 enclosure that remains one of the best-regarded budget eGPU boxes even years after launch. Our rating of the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck (7/10): A complete, genuinely portable eGPU solution with the GPU pre-installed and zero assembly.
Where the two are identical
