Who each one is for
Buy the Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 for 1440p gaming on a budget flagship, though it is not the pick for Thunderbolt peripheral users. The Legion Slim 5 16APH8 is the one to take for mainstream 1440p gaming with upgrade headroom, though it is the wrong buy for Thunderbolt peripheral users. Our rating of the Legion Pro 5 16IRX9 (8.5/10): the Legion Pro 5 16 has a Core i9-14900HX, a GeForce RTX 40 series GPU with 8GB of VRAM and 32GB of DDR5. The 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS display runs at 240 Hz, and a free M.2 slot with an 80 Wh battery makes it a strong 1440p gaming laptop. There is no Thunderbolt or USB4 listed, so docks and fast external devices may be limited. It weighs 2.5 kg, so portability is poor.
