Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8 Review

Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8 with Ryzen 7 8845HS, RTX 4060 8GB and 16GB dual-channel DDR5 in a 165Hz gaming chassis.

Lenovo's mainstream AMD gaming laptop, with a free second SO-DIMM slot and M.2 slot for future upgrades; no Thunderbolt since it is AMD-based.

Expert rating8 / 10

The Legion Slim 5 combines a Ryzen 7 8845HS with an RTX 40 series GPU and 8GB of VRAM, driving a 16-inch 2560x1600 IPS panel at 165Hz. That makes it a sensible pick for mainstream 1440p gaming, with an 80Wh battery and a free M.2 slot for extra storage.

There is no Thunderbolt port, so docks and fast external drives are limited. The 16GB of DDR5 comes in SO-DIMM form with no free slot, so upgrading means swapping both sticks, up to 32GB.

Best for

  • Mainstream 1440p gaming with upgrade headroom

Not for

  • Thunderbolt peripheral users
