ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL3A Review
ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL3A 27-inch QHD Fast IPS monitor with 180Hz refresh, 1ms response, wide 130% sRGB gamut and ELMB Sync backlight strobing.
The TUF Gaming badge usually signals ASUS's value-to-performance sweet spot, and the VG27AQL3A delivers on that with a wider-than-usual color gamut for a gaming-first panel plus ELMB Sync, which lets users run backlight strobing and variable refresh simultaneously, a combination competitors often force you to choose between. It's a monitor built for players who want motion clarity during fast panning shots without sacrificing the color pop that makes games look good the other 90% of the time.
ELMB Sync Is the Real Differentiator
Most monitors force a choice between VRR and strobing; ELMB Sync's ability to run both together is a genuine engineering win that pays off specifically in fast FPS titles with erratic frame times.
Comparison to Alternatives
Versus the MSI MAG 274QRF-QD, both target the value 1440p/180Hz-class segment, but the ASUS pulls ahead on simultaneous strobing+VRR support while MSI counters with a QD-enhanced panel for richer color. Against the Gigabyte AORUS FI27Q-X, the TUF trades some raw refresh rate for wider factory color coverage.
