ATEN KG0032 Review
The ATEN KG0032 is a 32-port KVM over IP OmniBus gateway for 1U, 19-inch racks, with Gigabit Ethernet, a 1920x1200 maximum resolution, virtual media and encryption.
A rack-mounted gateway that puts up to 32 servers onto an IP KVM setup. Servers connect through CI adapter cables, which support VGA, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort sources at up to 1920x1200. Multiple remote users can connect at once through the OmniBus architecture. Virtual media and encryption are included. It has no audio and no local console hub, so it is for remote access, not a local desk. At 7434.30 it makes sense only where you need to manage many servers from one place.
Overview
The KG0032 belongs to ATEN's OmniBus family, which separates the server-facing interface (the gateway) from the console entirely, there's no local KVM port on the unit itself. Instead, every one of the 32 connected servers becomes reachable over IP through ATEN's KVM over IP management software, which is the point of the architecture: scale to hundreds of ports across many gateways under one login.
OmniBus Architecture
Because OmniBus gateways are pure network endpoints, a data center can deploy dozens of KG0032/KG0016 units across multiple racks and manage the entire fleet from one central console application, rather than daisy-chaining traditional KVM-over-IP switches.
Comparison to Alternatives
Where the KN1132VB1 and KN1132V bundle a local console port alongside IP access, the KG0032 has no local port at all, it's built purely for centrally managed, software-defined access. For a smaller deployment needing only 16 ports, ATEN's KG0016 is the direct sibling; for local console access without OmniBus software, the KN4140VA or KN4124VA switches are the better fit.

Expert rating8.4 / 10
A strong choice for large-scale, centrally managed data centers standardizing on ATEN's OmniBus software, though it requires that ecosystem investment to be worthwhile.
Best for
- Large-scale centrally managed data centers
- Software-defined KVM access across many racks
- High port-count IP-only deployments
Not for
- Home office use
- Single-desk setups
- Sites without OmniBus management software
