Cooler Master GM27-FQS Review

Cooler Master GM27-FQS 27-inch QHD Fast IPS gaming monitor with 170Hz refresh rate, 1ms GTG response time, 95% DCI-P3 coverage and HDR10 support, marking Cooler Master's entry into gaming displays.

Better known for PC cases, coolers, and peripherals, Cooler Master's move into gaming monitors with the GM27-FQS is a natural extension of a brand already trusted by PC builders. The panel itself doesn't reinvent anything, but it proves Cooler Master can execute a competent, competitively specced gaming monitor rather than just cases and fans.

Why It Still Holds Up

170Hz Fast IPS with 1ms GTG response places it squarely in line with established gaming monitor brands on paper, and Cooler Master's existing reputation for build quality in cases and coolers carries over reasonably well to the monitor's chassis. It's also often bundled attractively with Cooler Master PC builds and peripherals.

Where It Falls Short

As a newer entrant to monitors specifically, Cooler Master lacks the years of firmware refinement and OSD polish that ASUS, Acer, or Dell have built up. HDR10 support is present but shallow without local dimming.

Comparison to Alternatives

Against the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ, the GM27-FQS matches core specs closely, with ASUS holding an edge in OSD software maturity and brand trust built over many monitor generations. Compared to the Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30, both are value-focused QHD options from brands better known for other PC hardware categories.
