Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 16AKP10

Measurements come from NotebookCheck's review unit with the Ryzen AI 5 330, Radeon 820M, 16GB of DDR5, a 512GB SSD and the 1920x1200 IPS screen (not the 2.8K OLED version).

The AMD Ryzen AI 5 330 has 4 cores (1 performance and 3 efficiency), boosting to 4.5 GHz. Office work, study, browsing and 1080p editing run smoothly; long 4K exports and big builds take a while. Its NPU is rated at 50 TOPS for on-device AI features.

NotebookCheck measured about 30W of sustained CPU power in this chassis. The chassis limit, not the chip rating, is what decides long render times. Across the 2 systems NotebookCheck has tested with the AMD Ryzen AI 5 330, it averages 2,467 single-core and 7,601 multi-core in Geekbench 6.

Graphics come from the integrated AMD Radeon 820M. It handles video playback, photo edits and lighter or older games at modest settings.

The Radeon 820M has only two compute units, so modern games are essentially unplayable and only light older titles run smoothly.

Memory: upgradeable. 2 SO-DIMM slots, both filled. It takes DDR5-5600, up to 32GB in total.

Storage: room for a second drive. 2 M.2 slots, 1 free (M.2 2242 and M.2 2280), M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4.

Six Torx screws hold the bottom cover, and inside both RAM slots and a free M.2 2280 slot make memory and storage upgrades straightforward.

The 16-inch IPS panel runs at 1920x1200 (142 pixels per inch) and 60Hz. It is rated at 300 nits. NotebookCheck measured 349 nits and 1,058:1 contrast. It covers 57.6% of sRGB (39.1% P3), so colors look muted and it is not suited to color work. Response time is 20.6 ms. No PWM flicker was detected.

The IPS panel on this configuration looks washed out because of its narrow color gamut, and its response times are slow compared with the OLED option.

NotebookCheck measured 43 dB(A) under load and 25 dB(A) at idle. You will hear it, but it is not intrusive. The hottest surface reached 37 °C.

The fan often switches off entirely at idle, while under heavy load the noise is similar to faster rivals; the Battery Saver mode cuts fan noise noticeably. Surface temperatures stay low even under sustained load, and the palm rests remain cooler than skin temperature, so it is comfortable to use on a lap.

The battery is 60Wh. NotebookCheck got 10 hours 32 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing. Lenovo's own battery rating: Lenovo quotes 11.2 hours in MobileMark 30 at 250 nits and 18.3 hours of local 1080p video at 150 nits for 60Wh models. Fast charging: Rapid Charge Boost, which Lenovo says gives 2 hours of use from a 15-minute charge.

Materials: Aluminum top and bottom covers, anodized and sandblasted. At 1.85 kg it is heavier than 80% of the budget mainstream laptops we list. It measures 356.5x250.6x16.9 mm. The fairly firm hinge holds the screen steady and opens to roughly 160 degrees.

The full-size keyboard with number pad and 1.3 mm key travel types well, though the up and down arrow keys are narrow. Backlight: White.

The buttonless 12 x 7.5 cm touchpad glides smoothly and recognises gestures reliably, but its click mechanism sounds a little rattly. Sign-in: IR camera for Windows Hello face login; no fingerprint reader.

There is no Thunderbolt, so docks and fast external drives run at USB speeds. It can drive up to 3 external displays. It charges over USB-C.

Full list: 2x USB-C with USB PD 65 to 100W and DisplayPort 1.4, left side, 1x USB-A, 1x USB-A, Always On, 1x HDMI 2.1, up to 4K/60Hz, 1x microSD card reader, 1x 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack. Wireless: Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

There is no Ethernet port and the USB-C ports do not support USB4 or Thunderbolt, but a microSD reader and a webcam privacy shutter are included.

Webcam: Lenovo lists FHD 1080p plus IR with privacy shutter and ToF sensor; NotebookCheck's review unit reported a 0.9MP camera with privacy shutter. Speakers: Stereo speakers, 2W x2, Dolby Audio.

The speakers lack bass and get only moderately loud, so headphones or external speakers are the better choice for media.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 16AKP10 name covers several builds. Processors: AMD Ryzen AI 5 330, AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 and AMD Ryzen AI 7 350. Graphics: AMD Radeon 820M, AMD Radeon 840M and AMD Radeon 860M. Memory: 8GB to 32GB DDR5 in two SO-DIMM slots (DDR5-5600, or DDR5-4800 on 24GB builds), user upgradeable. Screens: 16-inch WUXGA 1920x1200 IPS, 300 nits, 45% NTSC, 60Hz, anti-glare, touch or non-touch; 16-inch WUXGA 1920x1200 IPS, 300 nits, 100% sRGB, 60Hz, anti-glare; 16-inch 2.8K 2880x1800 OLED, 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3, 120Hz, glossy, DisplayHDR True Black 1000. Batteries: 60Wh and 80Wh. Check the exact configuration on the listing before you buy.

Still sold and listed by Lenovo as the current IdeaPad Slim 5 16-inch AMD model, with new 16AKP10 part numbers announced as late as August 2026, though a 2026 IdeaPad Slim 5a with the Ryzen AI 7 445 has started to appear at retailers.
