Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Extreme Review
Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Extreme is Thermal Grizzly's highest-performance silicone thermal pad, sold in 120x20 and 100x100mm sheets from 0.5mm to 3.0mm.
Minus Pad Extreme is the top of Thermal Grizzly's pad range and the one we'd pick for hot GPU memory and VRMs. Thermal Grizzly says it is about 260% better than Minus Pad 8. It has a modelling-clay consistency, 65 Shore 00, 3.38 g/cm3 density, plus or minus 0.1mm thickness tolerance and 8 kV/mm insulation, rated from -100C to 200C. It does not cure, so it shapes to the surface under maximum compression, but Thermal Grizzly recommends one-time use only. Its current page doesn't print a W/mK figure. Fujipoly Ultra Extreme XR-m is its closest rival.
Thermal Performance and Conductivity
Thermal Grizzly's current page doesn't print a W/mK figure. It says thermal conductivity is "improved by about 260% over the minus pad 8" and positions it above the new Minus Pad Pro, which it describes as very close.
Thermal Grizzly aims it at overclocking and tough jobs such as voltage regulators and memory ICs.
Compound Type and Composition
Minus Pad Extreme is silicone-based with what Thermal Grizzly calls a "modelling clay like consistency". Density is 3.38 g/cm3, hardness is Shore 00-65 and it carries a V-0 flammability rating.
Application and Consistency
It comes in 120x20 and 100x100mm sheets at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 3mm, with a thickness tolerance of plus or minus 0.1mm. That tight tolerance matters on GPU memory, where a pad that's too thick lifts the cooler off the die.
It doesn't cure, so it shapes to the surface under maximum compression. Cut it with the film on, place it, then peel.
Electrical Safety
Thermal Grizzly rates Minus Pad Extreme as electrically non-conductive, 8 kV/mm by ASTM D149. It is safe around exposed contacts.
Longevity and Pump-Out Resistance
As a solid pad, pump-out does not apply. Thermal Grizzly rates it from -100C to 200C. Because it shapes itself to the parts under pressure, Thermal Grizzly says "only one-time use is recommended". Plan on fresh pads after any teardown.
Comparison to Alternatives
Against Fujipoly Ultra Extreme XR-m (17 W/mK GHP, 11 W/mK Hot Disk), Fujipoly prints more data. Against Gelid GP-Ultimate (15 W/mK claimed), both target the same job. Against Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Pro, Pro is close on conductivity with more compressibility. Against Minus Pad 8, Extreme is the clear upgrade.
Winner for: high-end GPU memory and VRMs where you can measure the gap.
Who This Pad Is Actually For
Winner for: high-end GPU memory and VRM repads where heat transfer is the priority.
Good fit: overclockers who can measure the original pad thickness accurately, thanks to the 0.1mm tolerance.
Not for: builds you plan to take apart and reassemble with the same pads; it is one-time use.
Not for: very uneven gaps, where Minus Pad Pro's extra compressibility helps.
Our verdict

Expert rating7 / 10
A high-density filler pad from Thermal Grizzly's Minus Pad line, good for gap-filling where a paste isn't practical.
Best for
- High-end GPU memory and VRM repads
- Overclocked cards where pad heat transfer is the limit
- Builders who can match the original pad thickness closely
Not for
- Reusing pads after a teardown; Thermal Grizzly recommends one-time use
- Very uneven gap heights, where Minus Pad Pro conforms better

FAQs
Can Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad Extreme be reused?
Thermal Grizzly recommends one-time use only, because the pad shapes itself to the components under compression.
Is Minus Pad Extreme or Minus Pad Pro better?
Thermal Grizzly says Minus Pad Pro is very close to Extreme in conductivity, with outstanding compressibility. Extreme is the top performer; Pro is the better choice for uneven gaps.
How accurate is the Minus Pad Extreme thickness?
Thermal Grizzly lists a typical thickness tolerance of plus or minus 0.1mm.
Does Minus Pad Extreme cure or harden?
No. Thermal Grizzly says it has no curing, which lets it shape to the surface under maximum compression.
Is Minus Pad Extreme electrically conductive?
No. It is non-conductive, rated at 8 kV/mm by ASTM D149.
