Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO vs Black Box Emerald EMD4000T: Comparison
Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO vs Black Box Emerald EMD4000T: the max resolution difference
Start with max resolution, because it is the widest measured gap between them: Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO 2560x1600 against Black Box Emerald EMD4000T 4096x2160, 54% in favour of Black Box Emerald EMD4000T. Add max resolution single display to that, 2560x1600 on the Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO versus 4096x2160 on the Black Box Emerald EMD4000T, and the pattern holds.
Which should you buy, Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO or Black Box Emerald EMD4000T?
The Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO suits budget-conscious desks needing basic isolated switching between 4 DVI machines and legacy DVI workstations that haven't moved to DisplayPort/HDMI, though it is the wrong buy for users needing simultaneous multi-screen viewing (see the CCS-MV4224) and modern DisplayPort/HDMI-only hardware. It is not the one for desks requiring formal NIAP/Common Criteria certification (see the Cybex SC800 line). The Black Box Emerald EMD4000T is the one to take for 4K DisplayPort workstations needing network-routed extension and secure equipment rooms keeping PCs away from the desk, though it is not the pick for buyers without a matching EMD4000R receiver. Avoid it for HDMI or sub-4K resolution needs, where Adder's ALIF1104T is far cheaper. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder ADDERView PRO (7/10): an affordable way to add isolated switching to a 4-port DVI desk without paying for certification or multiviewer features.
