Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO AV4PRO vs SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S: Comparison

Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO vs SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S max resolution single display compared

Start with max resolution single display, because it is the widest measured gap between them: Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO 1920x1200 against SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S 3840x2160, 72% in favour of SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S. Add usb hub ports to that, 2 on the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO versus 3 on the SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S, and the pattern holds. They differ on video standard too, DVI-I / VGA on the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO versus DisplayPort on the SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S.

Who each one is for

Buy the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO for broadcast and security operations needing rack-mounted, RS232-controllable switching, though it is the wrong buy for single-desk users who only need to switch between two computers and buyers needing HDMI or DisplayPort instead of DVI/VGA. It is equally the pick for control room and NOC operators managing 4-8 machines across multiple monitors. It is not the one for budget shoppers, since modular head configurations cost more than a fixed 4-port switch. The SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S suits dual-monitor DisplayPort desks needing four sources and engineering and CAD workstations, though it is not the pick for quad-monitor requirements (see SM-EDPN-4Q-S) and single-monitor setups. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO (8/10): A serious modular KVM built for control rooms that need to scale past 4 computers, overkill for a simple desk setup. Our rating of the SmartAVI SM-EDPN-4D-S (7.9/10): A solid discounted dual-head DisplayPort option; the plain SM-DPN-4D-S may suffice for buyers not needing EDPN's extras.
