Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch M5 Pro chip, 15-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD, Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion 120Hz, Thunderbolt 5, macOS.
The step-up 14-inch Pro: an M5 Pro chip for real multi-core workloads, still in the compact 14.2-inch chassis with the same XDR screen as the Max tier.
Performance
M5 Pro adds a 15-core CPU (10 performance + 5 efficiency in this base bin) and 16-core GPU over the base M5, plus a wider memory bus for sustained multi-threaded and GPU work — video export, 3D, and larger LLM inference than the base chip can hold in memory.
Upgradability
Nothing is user-upgradeable: 24GB of unified memory and the 1TB SSD are both fabricated on package/soldered at the factory. Apple rates this chip family up to 128GB, but that must be chosen at checkout — it cannot be added later.
Battery life
72.4Wh battery, Apple-rated up to roughly 14 hours of web use and up to 22 hours of video playback on the Pro tier — noticeably better runtime than the same chassis with an M5 Max, since the Max's larger GPU draws more power under load.

14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR, 3024x1964 at 120Hz variable refresh (ProMotion), 1000 nits sustained full-screen brightness and 1600 nits HDR peak.
