Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO AV4PRO vs ATEN CS1642A: Comparison

Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO vs ATEN CS1642A: the max resolution difference

Start with max resolution, because it is the widest measured gap between them: Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO 1920x1200 against ATEN CS1642A 2560x1600, 44% in favour of ATEN CS1642A. Max resolution single display runs the same way, 1920x1200 on the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO versus 2560x1600 on the ATEN CS1642A, another win for ATEN CS1642A.

Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO vs ATEN CS1642A: which one fits your build

Buy the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO for broadcast and security operations needing rack-mounted, RS232-controllable switching, though it is not the pick for single-desk users who only need to switch between two computers and buyers needing HDMI or DisplayPort instead of DVI/VGA. The same goes for control room and NOC operators managing 4-8 machines across multiple monitors. Avoid it for budget shoppers, since modular head configurations cost more than a fixed 4-port switch. The ATEN CS1642A suits two dual-monitor workstations with DVI graphics and DVI monitors and 30-inch 2560x1600 DVI panels, though it is not built for modern DisplayPort or HDMI setups (see the ATEN CS1944) and 4K monitors. It also earns its place with desks that want USB and audio switched independently of the keyboard and mouse. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO (8/10): A serious modular KVM built for control rooms that need to scale past 4 computers, overkill for a simple desk setup. Our rating of the ATEN CS1642A (8/10): A well-equipped dual-monitor dual-link DVI switch for two computers, best suited to desks already wired for DVI at up to 2560x1600.
