Who each one is for

The Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO suits broadcast and security operations needing rack-mounted, RS232-controllable switching, though it is not built for single-desk users who only need to switch between two computers and buyers needing HDMI or DisplayPort instead of DVI/VGA. It also earns its place with control room and NOC operators managing 4-8 machines across multiple monitors. It is the wrong buy for budget shoppers, since modular head configurations cost more than a fixed 4-port switch. The ATEN KX9970FR is the one to take for completing a KX9970FT transmitter's fiber-based link and 5K DisplayPort remote workstations on fiber-backed networks, though it is the wrong buy for buyers without a matching KX9970FT transmitter and copper-only networks, where the KX9970R is the right pick. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO (8/10): A serious modular KVM built for control rooms that need to scale past 4 computers, overkill for a simple desk setup. Our rating of the ATEN KX9970FR (8/10): A capable 5K receiver for fiber-backed installs, always buy it with the matching KX9970FT transmitter.
