There is a split on video standard as well, DVI-I / VGA on the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO versus DVI on the Black Box KVS4-8001VX. Who each one is for

The Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO is the one to take for broadcast and security operations needing rack-mounted, RS232-controllable switching, though it is the wrong buy for single-desk users who only need to switch between two computers and buyers needing HDMI or DisplayPort instead of DVI/VGA. It is equally the pick for control room and NOC operators managing 4-8 machines across multiple monitors. Avoid it for budget shoppers, since modular head configurations cost more than a fixed 4-port switch. The Black Box KVS4-8001VX suits government procurement requiring formal NIAP certification and legacy DVI classified host isolation, though it is not built for multi-host switching needs and HDMI-native infrastructure (see KVS4-8001HX). Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO (8/10): A serious modular KVM built for control rooms that need to scale past 4 computers, overkill for a simple desk setup. Our rating of the Black Box KVS4-8001VX (8.5/10): the formally certified choice for a single secure DVI host where procurement demands NIAP documentation.
