Which should you buy, Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO or SmartAVI SM-EDPN-2D-S?

Buy the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO for broadcast and security operations needing rack-mounted, RS232-controllable switching, though it is not built for single-desk users who only need to switch between two computers and buyers needing HDMI or DisplayPort instead of DVI/VGA. The same goes for control room and NOC operators managing 4-8 machines across multiple monitors. Avoid it for budget shoppers, since modular head configurations cost more than a fixed 4-port switch. The SmartAVI SM-EDPN-2D-S suits dual-monitor two-PC DisplayPort desks and buyers wanting EDPN-line features at entry pricing, though it is the wrong buy for quad-monitor requirements (see SM-EDPN-2Q-S) and four or more system deployments. Our rating of the Adder Technology Adder AdderView PRO (8/10): A serious modular KVM built for control rooms that need to scale past 4 computers, overkill for a simple desk setup. Our rating of the SmartAVI SM-EDPN-2D-S (7.8/10): A solid, discounted entry point into SmartAVI's EDPN dual-head DisplayPort line for two-system desks.
